Report 2 HR publishes Workplace Help. Report 2 HR is an independent, self-help writing tool run by its developer, Ben Treder, whose other work is at bentreder.com. We are not a law firm, a government agency, an employer or a union, and we do not have named expert authors, testimonials or case results.
General, plain-language information to help you understand options and write clearly. They are not legal advice and do not create an attorney–client relationship. Whether conduct is unlawful, and what you can do about it, depends on facts, your location, your employer and the law at the time.
The articles have not yet been reviewed by an attorney. California counsel will review the substantive legal-rights content; until then we restrict ourselves to what the cited official agency pages state, say so, and leave out claims we could not source. We will not say an article is attorney-reviewed until it is.
We rely on the official sites of the EEOC, the U.S. Department of Labor, OSHA, the NLRB, California’s Civil Rights Department, the California Labor Commissioner (DLSE) and Cal/OSHA. Every article lists the pages it used, separates federal from California information, and shows the date it was written. We do not cite law-firm blogs, forums or statistics we cannot verify.
Examples are fictional and are labelled “Fictional example”. They do not describe real people or cases, and they are not templates that guarantee any result.
We will not tell you your employer broke the law, that you have a case, that HR will keep your complaint confidential, or that you will be protected from retaliation. We will not push you to report: whether and when to speak up is your decision. We do not use advertising, tracking or sponsored content in Workplace Help.
Using Report 2 HR, or writing something down, does not stop or extend any legal deadline. Deadlines differ by agency and claim and can be short. Articles name the deadlines the official pages state and point you to them; check the agency or ask an attorney.
Each article shows when it was last updated. If you find an error, email support@bentreder.com (please do not include details of a workplace situation). We correct mistakes promptly and change the date when we do. We re-read the official pages when we revise an article.
Workplace Help pages are public information pages. They use no analytics or advertising today. The report-writing pages are separate and never send what you write to us. See the privacy policy for details.
